George Ahgupuk Original Color Drawing on Hide. “Blanket Toss”

$530.00

This is an older original drawing by Inupiaq artist George Ahgupuk (1911 – 2001) showing a group of men doing a “Blanket Toss” of a game spotter.  Due to the flat nature of many Coastal Arctic regions, this method of gaining altitude was used to spot game in the distance. Other features of the image are well loaded fish drying racks and a hide stretcher. The drawing itself is approximately 3.5″ x 9.5″.  The colors are bright and clear. However, the signature and type of hide used are faded and are almost illegible.  The drawing is mounted in a dark blue metal frame, with glass, and a light blue mat. The frame has slight scuffs from handling. The overall size is 7 3/4″ x 13 3/4″. The date of this drawing is unknown, however it is believed to have been done sometime before 1980.  Domestic shipping is included.
